It was initially planned that the tournament would take place in Bangladesh; however, because of current political concerns in Bangladesh, the competition has been moved to the United Arab Emirates. It is also scheduled that the championship match of the event would take place in Dubai on October 20.
On October 13, the key encounter between India and Australia will take place in Sharjah, which is the other location. This match will be India’s sole group match that will take place outside of Dubai. In addition, the second semifinal will be held in Sharjah on October 18, while the first semifinal will be held in Dubai on October 17. If India is given the opportunity to qualify, they would be able to participate in the first semifinal.
It has not been altered that the competition will be divided into groups. The countries of Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are all members of Group A, whereas the countries of South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland are all members of Group B.
Each team will compete in four group matches, and the two teams who finish in first and second place in each group will go on to the semifinals. Reserve days have also been planned by the International Cricket Council for both the semifinals and the final.
Ten warm-up matches will be played between the 28th of September and the 1st of October, prior to the beginning of the competition.
