Changes Will Not Occur Under My Captaincy, Says Mohammad Rizwan

Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team, has clarified that his leadership will only result in gradual changes within the team.

Speaking to the media before leaving for Australia, Rizwan reaffirmed the team’s potential for success by crafting spin-friendly pitches for the home series. He praised the excellent effects of Aaqib Javed’s actions.

“The team has benefited from Aaqib Javed’s decisions,” Rizwan said. As stated previously, we can succeed by crafting spin-friendly pitches for our home series.

Aaqib Javed has no control over the pitches in Australia,” Rizwan said in response to the difficulties of playing there. There, the conditions are harsh and different. We have put in much effort, and I hope the outcomes will be positive.

Regarding Fakhar Zaman’s impact on the game, Rizwan added, “Fakhar Zaman is a player who can have a significant impact on the game.” However, we have no control over the team’s decisions. He is capable of winning a match by himself.

“Whoever comes as a coach, the decisions are up to the board and management,” he said about coaching changes. If someone asks for my opinion, I will provide it. My captaincy will bring about a minor change.

Only some things will change overnight, Rizwan remarked, adding that things were already moving in the right direction before his command.

He clarified that he had never asked for leadership and accepted it as an honor Allah had given him. Even when I wasn’t captain, my views were respected. When Sarfaraz Ahmed was captain, I used to contribute.

“I want to make sure that when I leave, there are multiple leaders within the team,” he said, expressing his wish for all team members to assume leadership responsibilities.

To form the most potent lineup for the forthcoming Champions Trophy, Rizwan added that the team would evaluate the circumstances before deciding on opening batting positions in T20 matches.

“We received a lot of love when we went to India, and everyone witnessed that,” Rizwan said, looking back on their trip. The Indian squad will also receive a warm reception from the Pakistani public. The board can better determine whether the Indian team would compete in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
